Review: "Night at the Museum 3" a new comedy movie
The biggest surprise is that the sexy actor Hugh Jackman cameo, in the name of his own deity appeared in the film comedy with Dan Stevens on the show, has become a highlight of the film's unexpected!
"Night at the Museum 3" sad comedy
A little sad to part with Robin Williams in the role last great film, and even more frustrating it happens silly farce like "Night at the Museum: The secret grave." You can find comfort in the third film brings the non-funny comedy series that declared an end. This course until someone decides to squeeze it a little longer
First the good news: end of "Night at the Museum 3: The secret grave" ("Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb") implies that we reached the end of the film series. More reasonable people would recommend not to rush and open the champagne bottles. Requires an inordinate amount of innocence to the industry's tendency to ignore the contemporary Hollywood re-boot series movies. Especially those who earned, on average, half a billion dollars per episode.
Like Hydra Head always will produce more, or a cockroach after a nuclear war, it is very possible he would find an excuse screenwriter return of "Night at". Still, I would like to not lose hope. After all, the promise to end the series is the only compensation possible after another chapter unnecessary.
The exhibits coming to life in the English museum are nothing special compared to the first two films. There are only a handful of new characters. Lancelot has a few funny moments but is overall forgettable. Rebel Wilson plays a British security guard who has some funny moments and Ben Stiller fills dual roles as Laa, a caveman designed to resemble Larry. This character provides some of the few genuine laughs in the film. However these additions are hardly enough to save the film.
The old gang is back as Teddy Roosevelt, Sacajawea and even Dexter accompany Larry on his trip to England. I remember when I saw Night at the Museum 2 for the first time, one of the few things that disappointed me was that the characters I loved from the first film - especially Roosevelt - were reduced to cameos. I like the supporting cast of that film enough that I have gotten used to the idea. However seeing this film made me realize why Larry only having one partner in the second film worked. In that film, Larry and Amelia Earhart had their own adventure while the other characters were elsewhere in the Smithsonian, doing their own thing. In this film, Larry has the other characters around seemingly just to take turns delivering their lines.
On that note, I must address one of the elephants in the room. I don't mind admitting I became a little emotional at the realization that this would be the last time I would ever see Robin Williams on the big screen. (His IMDB page lists one more project that is in post-production, however that is voiceover work.) Although he is not called on to do a lot in the movie, Robin Williams still plays the part with a ton of gusto - showing that he was a manic genius even until his tragic end. The old guards from the first film have a cameo in this one. So this will also likely be the last time I see the late Mickey Rooney in a film. (Rooney has one more credit on IMDB - an adaption of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.) Although as of this writing, he is still with us, it is also nice to see Dick Van Dyke in any movie.
Night at the Museum 3 also has a pretty lackluster story. Although needing to rejuvinate the tablet is a solid enough foundation to build the story, the film is bogged down by needless subplots. Jedediah and Octavius go on their own adventure in the museum. Larry is coping with the fact that his son Nick - who also comes along to England - does not want to go to college. The problem is that these subplots do not really add to the story and feel more like filler.

In terms of humor, this film is pretty hit and miss. To this film's credit, there are some funny moments - really funny moments. However for every truly laugh out loud moment, there is a joke that goes on too long or a setup that has a weak payoff. There is a surprisingly taboo joke in the middle of the film when Larry meets Akhmanrah's father. At the same time, it's the biggest laugh in the movie so why complain? Also, Night at the Museum 3 does have a few exciting action scenes. So the film does have a couple of worthwhile moments. There are other issues to discuss. However these are spoilers so anyone who does not want spoilers would be advised to skip ahead.
