Beyonce in Topless Costumes

Pop stars: never a group that’s been associated with demure, understated costumes and clothing. Lady Gaga gave us the pantless trend, which has gone on to make appearances on the runway (see: Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 collection) and small screen (see: Lena Dunham, pretty much every other episode of Girls).

Well, hold on to your pantless seats – Beyonce is kicking off the twinkling topless look in her Mrs. Carter World Tour, one shiny nipple at a time.

We guess this is easier to pull of than actually being topless – skip the crunches and go straight to Swarovski for abs and definition, not to mention a lift or enhancement are just a few strategically placed stones away. It’s not quite as cheesy as the t-shirts with drawn on bodies, but it’s still a trend that hopefully won’t catch on. Yes, everyone has nipples – possibly even shiny nipples if you’re a Twilight character. While a woman’s breasts aren’t all that shocking (especially for Europe, where this particular suit made its debut), how long will it be before the blinged out, tromp l’oeil body part designs move to other regions?
