RAJ BABBAR
Though Raj Babbar has worked with many directors
of repute, he considers working with B.R.Chopra as
an asset. In an interview he said, "Working with
Chopra Sahab has been delight because when I first
worked with him in the movie INSAAF KA TARAZU, I
was confronted with the top actress of that era,
Zeenat Aman and to make things difficult I had a
vicious rape scene with her."
He added, "When Chopra Sahab explained me the
scene he wanted me to be really brutal. I was in
dilemma as the scene demanded me to be physical
and brutal simultaneously. Being a new comer I was
hesitant to enact such a graphic sequence that too
with the industry's number one actress Zeenat Aman,
hence I requested Chopra Sahab to tone down the
scene but he affectionately explained me the
importance of the scene and pepped me up to
perform."
He continued, "To make me at ease he arranged
several rehearsals as he wanted me to be intense
violent and wild. I appreciate Zeenat Aman ji too, as
she was really cooperative and applauded Chopra
Sahab for extracting a rape scene that has ever been
shot on Indian screen."
Readers would be surprised to know that though Raj
Babbar played a complete dark character in INSAAF
KA TARAZU, and was entitled to be a villain in the
movie yet looking at the depth of his character he
was nominated in the 'Best Actor Category' for the
Filmfare Award in the years 1981.
